Officially Fit – Dynamic Stretching Pre-Game Basketball (2 of 2)

The benefits of stretching include increased range of motion through the joints, reducing stiffness and soreness in the muscles, as well as preventing future injuries by warming up the muscles for more intense movement of the body. Dynamic Stretching is the method of stretching while in motion. Static Stretching is a thing of the past and does not warm up the muscles like they require. Each Dynamic Stretching exercise is used to stretch the muscle to its longest range of motion while moving, in turn warming up the entire body so that it is ready to perform at its best and decrease the likeliness of an injury. Sports Officials do not have the luxury of a traveling Athletic Trainer that is on staff to help them treat an injury before or after the game. They don’t get special attention from Certified Strength and Conditioning Coaches to make sure they stay fit and can perform at peak performance every game. Officially Fit is a resource for anything and everything that pertains to health, fitness, and nutrition specifically for Sports Officials. There are many ways to educate yourself on the rules and mechanics to be the best official possible. Now there is a way to make sure you look good, feel good, and perform like an athlete but as an official.
