Top Five WiiWare Sports Games
WiiWare is a category of games that can be downloaded directly to a Wii console from the “Wii Shop Channel”. There are hundreds of games to choose from that range in price from $3.99 to $10.99.
Instead of wasting money a sports title that doesn’t play well on the Wii, check out the top five WiiWare Sports games that includes soccer, snowboarding, billiards, and basketball.
Cue Sports – Pool Revolution
Billiards were created well in Wii Play, but they were mastered in CueSports-Pool Revolution. The highlight of the game is the ability to play so many different variations of billiards. Custom rules can be set for 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Snooker, and Rotation.
Every shot can be setup using multiple angles and a single Wii controller without the nunchuk accessory. There are three venues to play pool in along with different tables and balls to choose from. The multi-player mode adds a lot more to the game and allows you to import Mii characters.
Eat! Fat! FIGHT!
Wii has always catered to fitness games that get you moving, but Eat! Fat! FIGHT! wants you to sit on your butt and enjoy the game. In the WiiWare title you take the role of a sumo wrestler where you train by learning fighting moves and fatten up your character through fast-paced eating challenges.
The best part of Eat! Fat! FIGHT! is the actual fighting. The game has a lot of different moves to master and you will get better as you travel the world and participate in multiple sumo fights. The graphics are simple but effective for the game.
Hoop World
What happens if you mix NBA Jam with Pirates of the Caribbean? You get Hoop World, a random mix of pirates, demons, and 3-on-3 basketball. The premise is strange, but the execution is well done.
It’s fun to play on the different themed courts surrounded by flames, underground caverns, and beaches. The characters have different powers and attributes to help you score baskets, attack opponents, and win. The controls are easy to learn and the more you play, the better the game gets.
Soccer Up
Wii Party and Wii Fit offer soccer mini-games that just tease you about soccer on the Wii. Soccer Up is a full-fledged soccer game that you can import your Miis on and play teams all over the world.
The game has multiple control types, allowing you to play with a single remote or a remote and nunchuk connection. The game play is fast paced and accurate shooting makes it more enjoyable.
Snowboard Riot
Reminiscent of the classic Cool Boarders series, Snowboard Riot isn’t so much of a chaotic snowboard trip as it is a good simulation of boarding down a mountain. The game comes preloaded with eight different characters and is compatible with the Wii Balance Board, so it really feels like you’re on a board.
The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection offers online ranking based on times and scores.
