Celebrate Unity Day at Anchorpoint Saturday

Formulated through the diligent organization of KC Adams, and
with a little help from a group of friends, Anchorpoint Christian
High – 2220 Pacheco Pass Highway – will host Unity Day on Saturday
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of Black History Month and a chance
to, “pay it forward.”

“It’s something that I have wanted to do for awhile,” Adams
said. “It’s going to be really good to get everybody together and
give back.”

The list of activities and entertainment options is lengthy.
First off, for kids elementary-school and middle-school aged, there
will be games, jump houses, a punt, pass and kick challenge, 3-on-3
basketball tournament and many other family activities.

Musical guests include Robert Butler of cathedral of Faith,
saxophonist Luis Lendz and karaoke by DJ JR.

The day will also be used to teach and encourage as Pastor
Malcolm MacPhail (New Hope Community Church), Pastor Gerald Harris
(Bethany Church), Sergio Montenegro (Monterey County School
District), Bob Fitch (Martin Luther King’s former personal
photographer), Sondra Cole (Anchorpoint Christian) and Peter
Arellano (Gilroy Councilman), are all scheduled to speak.

Adams and his close friend Michelle Travlos, who suffers from
Sickle Cell Anemia, also organized a Red Cross blood drive to raise
awareness of the disease and invite visitors of Unity Day to
donate. Register to donate blood at redcrossblood.org and use the
sponsor code: anchorpoint. Donations will be taken from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m.
